Aleina Riddler

Aleina is a Hamilton based artist who studied Mediarts at Wintec. Her work often focuses on playfully creating patterns out of simple objects, focusing on the aesthetics of symmetry, repetition and positive/negative relationships.

Her recent series explores the forms of plants using the traditional techniques of linocut printmaking. Here, she examines the uniqueness of a single leaf, organising it into a perfectly aligned pattern or shape then reproducing it using the often temperamental process of linocut where no two prints are exactly the same.
