GILLY BASS

‘Creative arts has been my lifelong journey’.

While Gilly was self-employed as a health professional, she found the freedom to bring a creative edge to her work, along with ‘time out’ to explore interests, travel and explorations. She has been influenced by several artists – Artist Kevin Oxley (winner of Queens birthday award 2017) had a huge influence in her life while she was living & working with him in Sydney. She found that being involved in selling his work, attending workshops, and his exhibitions in art galleries in Sydney provided her with a good foundation. Frank Bacon, Founder of Keirunga Arts, also influenced her first water painting experience. Local artist Raewyn Harris encouraged her with using colour and vibrancy to water paints plus the introduction of inks.

She has travelled extensively throughout Australia, U.K, Europe, painting in Italy, Paris & the Greek Islands.

She started Creative Experiential Art Group 5 years ago at 190 Kaimata Rd in Bay View. She now works in a cleverly designed tiny house art studio, sharing her space with her daughters, Artist Sonia Bass and Senior Textile Technician (Weta)Lisa Doherty, and Artist Neil Blair.
