Much of the inspiration for Heather Wilson’s work is drawn from her memories of a happy and carefree Kiwi childhood growing up in the 60s and 70s in Lower Hutt, Wellington.

Heather’s art explores New Zealand’s iconic scenery and symbolism connected with 1970s geometric patterns. Her work often has a retro vibe inspired by Gio-Ponti, Bisazza tiles, Yayoi Ku-Sama, Comme des Garcons, Andy Warhol and Piet (Mondrian).

She describes the trademark of her art as an explosion of strong and bold colour and texture, composed using acrylic and mixed media on canvas and board with resin effects.
