Ira Mitchell

Ira’s works are geometric in style, informed by the collages of Matisse and colour palette of Robin White while capturing the hues, stark contrasts and physical forms of Aotearoa in her unique vernacular.

Ira has a Batchelor degree in Fine Arts and a Diploma in Visual Communications.  She later trained as a teacher and now creates from her studios in the beautifully restored Christchurch arts centre.

Her work is inspired by the sharp glacier shaped forms and vivid colours of the New Zealand landscapes, including architectural treasures.
