Karen began exploring art with dry and oil pastels on A4 paper around 2000 in Seferihisar, Turkey.

After a hiatus, she resumed her practice in 2014. Notable exhibitions include her solo show “Land Village Fences” at Kina in 2019, with ongoing consignments to Kina and Tennyson Gallery in Napier. Her work was selected for the Hawke’s Bay Art Review in 2019 and 2021.

Upcoming, she will take up a 3-week residency at Chateau d’Orquevaux in October 2026.
