Megan’s medium changes with inspiration, however, is dominantly drawn to the surreal and plus-sized female form. This is where she explores a variety of styles and exciting, vibrant colour choices. Her process of the painterly application shows how expressive nature through personal experience defines her work, treasuring the flaws we all feel and see in the mirror – “the things that make us beautiful and unique”. She finds the imperfection interesting and evocative; this is how she encourages a spark of conversation about non-conformant societal norms, creating an interesting and enjoyable experience for the viewer. The work is for a better, non-judgemental life experience for younglings and a statement of evolutionary positive reinforcement and acceptance through exposure.
