Rebecca Stone is a Wairoa based mixed media artist currently exploring abstract realism. She finds the contrast of intentional mess and realistic imagery intriguing. 

Inspired by the beauty that is Mother Nature, Rebecca’s work often features native birds or flora amidst an acrylic and spray paint background. 

Rebecca finds art meditative, often tuning in to something “beyond the body”. The aim is to become aware of all the details, not only in art but in life. Like in her paintings, the “messy”, abstract areas hold their own unique beauty but when we look closer, we realise that the pieces which appear to be naturally beautiful are really just carefully constructed from smaller fragments and strokes of the very same medium that made the mess. For when we accept, learn from and love our abstract or messy parts we become who we are meant to be, our authentic self.
